What is the relationship between IT and OT Cyber Security?

What is the relationship between IT and OT Cyber Security?

The effective management of Cyber Security for Industrial Control systems requires cooperation between an organisations IT and OT functions.

=Method has observed that our clients have benefitted when both disciplines attended our Cyber Security Risk Management course together.

The balance of responsibility between the two functions is often unclear and needs to be agreed. Also, the objectives,  priorities and specialist skills within each function are different. These issues are illustrated in the diagrams above.

Our goal is to help our clients resolve these issues and comply with regulations. For this reason, we are incentivising organisations to send both their IT and OT managers together by offering a 50% discount on the second person.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please let us know that you are sending and IT and OT specialist when you enquire about course availability.

If it is not (cyber) secure, it is not safe - Mike StJohn-Green, CEng FIET, Technical Director, Method Cyber Security

The first reported cyber-attack on a Safety Integrated System demonstrates that systems important to safety need cyber security measures to avoid their safety arguments being invalidated. But there is a broader justification: cyber security risks arise as a direct result of the nature of networked digital technology, which renders existing safety analysis inadequate to mitigate those risks.
